Through the night of Saturday October 3 and Sunday October 4, Nova TC was updated a number of times to improve performance and load handling. The following changes were made:

Database process threading was improved
Database save timer was changed to 1 hour (temporary measure)
Clients are now limited to 2 concurrent connections per account
A number of locks and crashes were fixed
Connection limit was raised to ~1000

All players should notice much smoother gameplay. With 900 players on line last night, the server experienced no noticeable lag. TheAnswer and the development team deserve many thanks for their hard work on these stability rubix cubes.

Cheers and have a great time!

Nice, just one question though, if server crashes at lets say, 59 minutes after the last database save, does this mean we could lose the whole hour?

I was wondering about this also. I mean, does the game auto-save your character when you log off (assuming that the server is online)? Or is it more like the database stores your information and then saves at the 1-hour marker, even after you've logged (again, assuming that the server stayed online)?

This is great! Last night was so smooth, so I turned up the max framerate and the settings overrider that Uli made and my head almost exploded it was so awesome. Nothing beats 50fps on top of a mountain on naboo over looking miles of trees and grass in high detail with volumetric shadows...in SWG...

Last night, I noticed that the game performed without any noticable flaw. I don't know who "TheAnswer" is or are, but the sound like Gods at this point (Despite for the now temporary server shutdown)

Please tell me how you got to amp the fps rate. I'm stuck at 30 and I want to optimize my experience.

First, please use EDIT don't double post.

Second read announcements, there is a server cap, so if you cant log on leave it loading you'll get there.

I believe that the front page has recently added a new feature that does just that.

It's all very happy now, Just one question for some of you though. Why would you want 50 FPS when the human eye can only recognize somewhere around 30?

Actually, the human eye can only see around 60FPS.

Vlada

Actually, the human eye can only see around 60FPS.

True.

We as humans have a very advanced visual system. While some animals out there have sharper vision, there is usually something given up with it (for eagles there is color, for owls it is the inability to move the eye in its socket). We can see in millions of colors (women can see up to 30% more colors than men, so if a woman doesn't think your outfit matches, she is probably right, go change), we have highly movable eyes, and we can perceive up to and over 60 fps. We have the ability to focus as close as an inch, and as far as infinity, and the time it takes to change focus is faster than the fastest, most expensive auto-focusing camera out there. We have a field of view that encompasses almost 170 degrees of sight, and about 30 degrees of fine focus. We receive information constantly and are able to decode it very quickly.
So what is the answer to how many frames per second should we be looking for? Anything over 60 fps is adequate, 72 fps is maximal (anything over that would be overkill).

*60-72 fps, etc.*

Of course, with games, we must consider the possible drops during high activity, so having a higher than noticeable framerate doesn't hurt.

Anyway, I haven't had a chance to play lately, but this sounds very nice so thanks guys :D
