20 citizens for rank 5 (Metropolis)

The following are testing focus for cities:

  • City Placement Rights and Abilities (should be novice politician only).
  • City Advancement
  • City Caps per Planet and Rank:
  • Core planets (Tatooine, Corellia, Naboo) are 20 cities total, only 15 rank3 or above, and 10 rank4 or above.
  • Adventure planets (Rest of planets excluding Dathomir, Endor, and Yavin4) are 50 cities total, 30 rank 3 or above, and 20 rank 4 or above.
  • City Militia and /cityban, /citypardon (Currently, should only disable buying tickets and using the shuttle of the city).
  • City Email

Please Note:
City updates have been decreased to:
  • 60 minutes for an initial city.
  • 15 minutes for each update after the initial update.

IMPORTANT: To update your city you must use the City Management Terminal in the City Hall. Go to City Info > City Advancement to see how long until your next update! Updates don't occur automatically yet!

Pretty awesome addition to be able to create cities in these planets, hopefully the cities will be near POI badges and grind spots!

And so the cRush spoke, and there was much rejoicing.

catuli_infernales 10-12-2010 09:30 PM

City progression is by the numbers stated in OP.

Cityban and citypardon worked as described (person ...thanks paul...could not use shuttle to buy a ticket while banned but could after). Also tested to be sure one could not ban a citizen. Used mayor and milita to test this function as well.

Militia works as described (nice not to have to have the mayor on 24/7 to grant zoning rights lol)

not sure how to send citymail.

update timer was as described in OP.

Nice work...if someone would tell me about citymail I will test it as well

Not yet implemented. :P

cRush 10-12-2010 10:11 PM

By citymail, I meant to ensure that the emails being sent from the city were correct in:
- Who they were going to
- What they said made sense
- They were being sent for the proper event

I'll implement the mass citizen mailing soon, it's pretty simple.

darmin 10-12-2010 11:12 PM

thank you! love to see progress, keep at it!!

Oneon 10-13-2010 01:47 AM

So most of the team's focus is on player cities at the moment (I assume since the last few updates have added player city functionality primarily) which is great, but I'm wondering...(I know this is probably not the proper thread, but I couldn't find a better one to post it)...What will the team's primary focus be, other than misc bug fixes, after player cities have been ironed out?
If you guys don't have anything specific lined up on the roster to get working yet, that's cool. I guess I'm just a bit excited for what's in store. :)

Hope that didn't sound negative, because it's wasn't meant to be in any way.

MarlonB 10-13-2010 02:15 AM

I finally had some resources to craft with :)

Ah well ...

Hiddukel 10-13-2010 02:27 AM

Talon 10-13-2010 12:31 PM

Personally I can't wait to get the city stuff workin...maybe the height mapping issues on adventure planets is next and then we can get back to some profession testing. I wanna Master Scout again!

I would have to guess that it would be something on the list from the OR implementation thread that would require a lot of work, like the combat and crafting systems for elite professions. Just a guess, mind you.

cRush 10-13-2010 04:32 PM

Actually, I'm the only developer working on Player Cities.

Kyle is working on finishing up crafting, schematic, and factory issues.

Dannuic is working on completing the creature conversion, so that we can have working creatures in the OR.

Polonel is working on polishing up some admin commands and helping Dannuic with creature conversion tools.

TheAnswer is generally working on stability fixes, entertainer, and managing the team.

Oru is working on Engine upgrades as well as directing the team.

Elvaron is working on a major project for school, but should be back coding soon.

So there is a lot in queue, just Player Cities are the freshest thing out the gate at the moment.

Personally, my list contains the following:
- Finish player cities.
- Expand email system to handle keywords (guild, group, citizens) and mailing to multiple recipients.
- Implement guilds.
- Implement spawner objects.
- Implement vendors.
- Implement factions.

So, I should be busy for awhile. Hoping to move onto guilds as early as this weekend!

what exactly is a spawner object? a lair? a quest causing a lair to spawn? both?

as far as the work on creature conversions....is there anything someone can do, outside of game, to help?
I have alot of internet access but cant really get into game much because i'd be at work and the comp there cant handle any games.

TexasDey 10-13-2010 05:23 PM

Thank you for keeping us informed. I appreciate all the hard work you guys do and after every wipe I see more of the progress being made. :)

catuli_infernales 10-13-2010 05:23 PM

Thanks for all the straight answers!

Also I would like to know who's gonna be working on scout? and possibly when this will start to happen, if whoever is assigned to it has such a tidy to-do list like you

keep up the good work!

fatherjack 10-13-2010 06:17 PM

cRrush you have some cool stuff on your list. I can't wait to see it all working, especially guilds and vendors!!! You must be an awesome dude to be entrusted with such important stuff.

Poocho 10-13-2010 07:13 PM

Indeed. Much thanks for the detailed info on what's going on.

You know, I'll bet Mr. Crush is a super interesting dude. I'm curious about what kind of life he has besides coding. *cough* ;)

Just my thoughts,
Poocho :)
