What we learned.
Stress test has been canned.
We are having a lot of trouble with freebsd, especially with the load we experienced. There was also a lot of new internal code that was being tested, as well as some unstable stuff that surfaced today. So its back to fixing. I really don't know what to say but, sorry. I mean its a stress test and we EXPECT things to go wrong, but people have been telling me "nothing new waste of time gtfo". When really there was a lot of things new, inside anyway, and new things to test out internally. Just because you cant SEE something in game on our servers doesn't mean we haven't added anything new. I just want you guys to understand the reasons for our development actions. We are taking things slow because this software will be used for years to come. We would rather take 100 hours of development time to work on something that, in game, isn't visually beautiful, than to slop together something that looks nice but will fail 3 months down the road. The themed stress test was a good idea but as a project, we aren't ready for it. What we will have to do is stick to traditional stress testing, except adding features at a more consistent rate so it isn't as boring. We will still have stress tests but they will have a bit more quality control than this one has. TA and Oru are ****in exhausted and just went to bed. I've been pulling all nighters almost every night since thursday. So we're all pretty tired. We walked away from this test wiser than before, and more prepared to handle these events. I hope you'll understand. On behalf of the (TIREDDDDDDDD) swgemu team, Ramsey. |
First! yeah!
dont worry ramsey, we understand! we love you swgemu team <3 :P
G'nite then lol

<Ramsey> no idea when the **** I'll have an eta, but it may very well mean the test is back on, more information shortly I guess Report Post !!!!!!!! |

Night guys. |

I know you're trying hard, and I understand the pain (oh... I know... ungrateful *****s).
Anyway, as disappointed as I may be I'm alright with that, because you worked your asses off for something which benefits us, and I personally thank you (as I'm sure many others do as well.) |
In my mind the test was still a success, you learnt and it will help the team out a lot. Good work.
If you've run into an issue with FreeBSD, hit me up in a PM...it may be something I've run into myself.
Hi.
The core 3 was good. When it will be up. That is for now. Goodbye. |
Sorry it didn't work out guys, You did an excellent job!
Here's to the next time! |
I've been telling people all day just this. It was a big step for the EMU and any errors that come up are unexpected. The point is that the team has learned a lot from this event, in all that that entails.
Thx for tryin
Well, I'm just glad you guys are doing what you are doing, and are so dedicated. You guys deserve as much sleep as you can get right now, for working so hard. Thanks swgemu team!
coming away from anything with something learned is always a good thing. all you devs go get your much needed rest. I am sure we all shall still be here....LOL
Hey there will always be bumps in the road, my confidence is not lessened one bit because of this. at least this was a learning experience for the Devs, and keep up the good work.
This just brings us one step closer to perfection of the emu!
It's all good, problems are to be expected in a test. there are more weekends to come and we will be here ready.
You have done great work, keep it up. Don't let the bedbugs bite |
We all learn somehow.
we can wait. you guys need a rest.
we win some, we loose some..But if we are still taking ground, That's all what counts..
Thanks for all your hard works guys. We all really do appreciate it :D
atleast something was learned from this, becuase life in itself is a lesson to be learned
Wisdom is good.
Well... at least theres this http://www.maxior.pl/?p=index&id=2449&6 . I mean if nothing else at least we got a Death Star.
Ah well :) keep up the good work itll all work out in the end :D
Guys don't fret!
Ramsey just posted an update in irc; <Ramsey> Freebsd is having trouble with core3 still, but I think I've figured it out <Ramsey> no idea when the **** I'll have an eta, but it may very well mean the test is back on, more information shortly I guess Report Post |
Do you guys need more members? It sounds like its too much for you all to really handle all at once. This is a huge MMO that took the work of hundreds of people to get it working.
<Ramsey> we will take the extra 100 hours of development, to build something that doesnt LOOK nice, but is functionally beautiful
<Ramsey> than to build something that is astectically beautiful, and have it fail 3 months down the road And I knew that I was waiting on the right team to do this. I don't care how long I have to wait, as long as we get this, and it works |
First!!!!
