just confused i guess.
When i read that wipes can happen even after the or code goes live.
What would cause another wipe?
If they fix something, can't they just update the files on the server and the client with out a wipe?
like fix a bug with a profession

Well, when you consider we're supposed to be testing first and playing second, if they need to wipe they need to wipe, and we just have to deal with it.

Yea, no point in keeping anything. With blue frogs you can recreate your toon in less than 2 minutes.

After they remove them, wipes probably wont be as frequent.

Look at it this way, When the Devs make a new code fix it usually involves data that one or more characters use.

Example 1: New code made to "fix" the way a character's HAM is calculated and there are 1,000 toons on the server, and this new code would need to be applied as a patch, it is easier and faster to wipe the character database rather than patch all 1,000 characters. One file is made rather than making 1,000 individual patches to each character file.

Example 2: Same can be said of resources. IF a certain resource does not work as intended and 500 people have that resource rather than patching the ground code were that resource is and all the characters holding it, 1 patch file is inserted after a wipe.

Its always harder and more time consuming to patch all the characters in the database rather than wiping it.

Hope this helps.

Just like any other MMO out there, during a major update, the code is pushed to the server and then it is tested for stability, before the server is open to the public again. However, we do not offer ETA's for our downtimes.

TC:NOVA= TEST CENTER
Whole point of the server in the first place is to test, everyone got their play time in for the last year, that should have been enough, Time to do some real Testing!

Seriously what is it with all of you complainers?

All anyone ever does when they announce a breakthrough is complain how incomplete the Code is or complain they are going to loose their characters.

Boo Hoo.

Get a clue all who do not understand what this server really is, Its a TEST CENTER.

Grow up or go play WoW.
I approve this message lol
