Exclamation [nova] 6/08 deadlock

The server is deadlocked (search term on the forums for more information). It will not accept connections. A server restart is required, and will likely not happen until later this evening/morning.

Please be patient. Have a nice evening.

This is an optomistic attempt to try and stop those server down posts.

Just a quick question, out of curiosity... why does it take so long to do server restarts?

I was part of the development team for the discovery freelancer RP 24/7 server/mod, and the entire admin staff had the ability to remotely restart the server if anything happened, in addition to the guy who actually owned the server being able to restart it manually. Unless there was a severe problem with the server hardware, we never had more than a few minutes, to an hour at most, downtime when something caused the server to lock up.

Granted, I have no idea how hosting an SWG server works, but I assume it's fairly similar.

Our two guys who restart the server are in Europe. The reason not everyone can remotely restart the server is because there are important logs that needs to be collected and viewed before the server is restarted and if it is restarted prematurely those logs will be lost.

Please remember it's a test center, not a play server. The testing aspect is of the utmost importance and is the higher priority in this case.
