I hope they get it done no later then august, like it says in there. But Can someone explain the OR in greater detail, I didn't understand it. Will it change the graphics, the interface of the game and stuff? Or what.

The OR isn't going to have any observable effect for people who are playing the game (well, hopefully, although I'm guessing there's a chance that it will introduce some bugs). It's about standardising the code in order to help the developers keep track of it. If they didn't do this then new developers would have to spend a lot longer understanding how everything works.

Basically they're avoiding one of the mistakes the original pre-CU developers made which was allowing the code to become overly complicated. The result was that bugs seemed to take months to fix rather than days / weeks (or more commonly they weren't fixed at all) and the addition of new content was also pretty slow. This of course was a large contributing factor in why they chose to go ahead with the CU and NGE.

yes..in short doing the OR now prevents things like a CU or NGE in the future. SWG's orginal code was highly complicated and difficult to modify later on (especially as old devs left and new devs came on board) .

By doing this they make the code easier to deal with, since this is an Open Source project the current devs are taking steps to make sure future devs are able to understand the code, and build on it w/o having to redo all the work that came before.

Just makes it simpler for people that wanna run it themselves really. No harm done, as long as nothings sacrificed for it.

Before they even started the Object Restructure they said all Dev chats, and Bi-Weekly updates would be on hold.

Communication*

And we actually have posted a few minor updates here and there, aka "Current state of affairs" topic and I think there was one other one. Not only that but there was that Jedi update thread "Hokey Religions..." and the future patch that should be coming down the pipe soon... though I know its been on "Soon" for a while, but you have to understand, stuff happens.

They may find a new bug that makes whatever they were trying to put in compleatly useless until they figure it out.

So please, just bear with the project. It is afterall, a huge task
