Hello from EMURadio!

Some of you may not know that Phantomleader began the Emuradio project more than 2 years ago. We've had some changes over time, with various hosts and DJ's, but recently we've found our footing, and are looking to expand!

Listen Link! --->www.loudcity.com/stations/emuradio (Be advised, the stream in NOT up 24/7, no need to freak out if there's no music at times)

At this time, we're looking for a few people that are interested in DJ'ing with us via our hosting service. We encourage diversity in musical taste, as well as varied time zones. We hope to present a wide-ranging and multicultural experience that allows each DJ to share his passion and art with the community!

A solid Internet connection, as well as high bitrate tracks (ie 128 and up) are required.

If you have a collection you think you'd like to share, and an interest in a consistent commitment to DJ'ing Emuradio, please PM Ekaika, friendofganja or Jer! You can also /join #emuradio on our IRC, or check out the EMURadio Website. (www.emuradio.net)

Look forward to listening to you. :D

I tried to tune in today and it didn't load for me. The forums on the emuradio.net site didn't load for me either. Ekaika if you could PM me I would very much be interested in DJin for EmuRadio and can talk about it in detail.

I actually have a valid question (that's not completely me just acting like a jackass). What if I got a copy of my bands cd and sent it to the radio? :D That'd be one fricken awesome way to get out there and find some fans. We're alternative rock so if it doesn't fit well...alrighty.

It would be easier and appreciated if you would initiate the PM. I'm kinda bogged down.

I suppose you could. We're not a large group, but we have a pretty dedicated listener base. Not sure how helpful it would be for ya :)

X.x maybe not. Don't you hate when people think they're the leader and do stuff behind your back than you find out it's too late when it happens? This is one of those moments. X.X

Here I go again, resurrecting an old thread with a familiar question.

I used to run TGS (The Gaming Syndicate) Radio, it was a FPS clan radio station through shoutcast, we had autoDJ and of course live DJs during the day, however certain legislation caused us to have to shut down the station to avoid the enormous royalty fees associated with the music we were playing and I was wondering how you've managed to get around that?

As you may or may not know, most internet Radio Stations not supported by corporate America financially have been forced to shut down and if there is some sort of way around this, I would love to know so I can get our station back up and running.

We're in need of a new frontpage at Emuradio! Ours is grossly outdated and now simply a placeholder until we get something else.

If anyone is interested in helping us build a new simple frontpage, sound off by sending me a PM or email me ekaika@swgemu.com.

Thanks

I'm not EXACTLY sure, but I believe Emu Radio stopped broadcasting on November 11th this year.

I havn't heard of anything about them wanting to start it back up, Ekaika would be the one to contact on this.

Your first and most important move is to find something OUTSIDE of the U.S for your streamcast provider. The latency may be a bit more, but with high speed internet these days, it shouldn't cause too many issues. What you essentially need to do is to bypass U.S laws regulating internet radio by using an out of country provider, otherwise you will eventually get caught and the FCC will shut you down and make absolutely sure you pay the back owed royalties.

The average legitimate I-station in the U.S pays between 5k-10k in monthly royalty fees just to play the music they want to. So be careful how you go about this, the last thing you need to do is get yourselves in trouble.

Or there's Opera Unite (http://unite.opera.com/).
Opera Unite is a new technology platform allowing you to share content directly with friends without having to upload anything to a Web site. You can stream music, show photo galleries, share files and folders or even host your own Web pages directly from your browser

I find it an interesting concept. I've played around with it a little, but nothing in depth. Anyone else?

Also, I'd agree about outside US hosting. The laws and fees are just more fair.

I have recently been learning more about Opera's newest features since 10.1 but nothing to in depth as of yet....nice to see another Opera fan in the house however ;)

This is correct. We shut down the stream due to a few reasons. First, the provider was iffy at best. Too much money for too new a host, and subsequently problems crept up. Second, as the latest patch caught on, less and less people were idling and listening, so donations tanked, and the burden was solely on one person to pay hosting.

Opera is an interesting concept, I'll look into that for sure. If anyone else has some suggestions, by all means. EMURadio can live again!

One love.

I use Opera Unite and I must say, it is a very neat thing. The media player would be practical for the emu radio. The only requirement is that the DJ has to have opera open and unite on for it to work. The media player plays music in a playlist style, the only issue is you can see the whole playlist and play any song you want. Check it out http://unite.opera.com/en_us/. Also, the part is it doesnt cost you one dime.

EDIT: Also, if you a certain playlist up, you can export it to a m3u file and play it on a a media player without the need for the browser to be open.

We played around with it the other night, it's pretty cool. Only thing concerned about is limited up bandwidth. Someone with say only 1up will be splitting that out amongst all listeners and everything else they're doing on the net.

Gonna go ahead and agree with ya here bud...Ive been spending the last few weeks getting familiar with Unite and am thoroughly enjoying Opera's newest addition. Hit me up-> rebel_scum@operamail.com for my fellow opera community members. Here is the link (http://unity.rebelscum.operaunite.com/) to my Unite home page as well.

The playlist style does kind of hinder the actual "DJ" aspect I imagine...as for the bandwith concern Ek, perhaps a field test amongst the #emuradio crew might be in order, that is if your not already 3 steps ahead of me ...

Thanks for your postings. Because the stream is down, and we lack a dedi userbase at this time, we forced manual activation of accounts for now, to prevent any pesky bots from invading us. I'll get over there and clean things up asap tho.

Thanks again.

Everyone EmuRadio is still up and running. The listen link is here http://www.loudcity.com/stations/emuradio/tune_in . The website on the bottom portion will say it is not found, but if someone is DJing you are still able to hear it if you look at the top bar and click play, or choose on of the clients to open it on.

If you want to talk with the DJs go to the SWGEmu IRC and go to #emuradio. Always people in there.
