[LPE] Launchpad Downtime 1/23/10

The issues with the LPE host have been corrected but may take some time to be fully storted out. We expect all problems to be resolved by 8pm EST, 1/24/10.

LaunchpadEnhanced is currently experiencing some problems as of the morning of 1/23/10. This will cause the launcher to not only fail to launch the game, but also to possibly corrupt or delete important game files.

We encourage all players who see this before loading up the launcher to try and run the game directly from the swgemu.exe file (default location: C:\SWGEmu). If the launchpad has inadvertently deleted this file then you will need to wait for the LPE issues to be corrected, at which time it will be able to redownload that file.

If you find yourself with missing or corrupted files you can attempt a manual installation (http://www.swgemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2553) to install or correct the problems. Additional needed files can be found here (http://www.swgemu.com/swgemu/downloads/), including the SWGEmu executable file. Please understand, however, that our support staff can provide very limited support for a manual install or fix, so you do so at your own risk.

Sit tight and we'll try and get these issues corrected as soon as possible!

I can't connect to the server. I'll launch into the character selection screen and it never gets past the blue loading screen. No bar come up for loading either.

I don't know if this is cause of LPE or not.

I did a full scan to see if it would fix it and nothing changed.

I run into the same problem, The Character screen loads up and I go to enter galaxy and it just stays on that screen loading indefinatley.

Not sure if this needed a new thread, but over the past few days, maybe even a week? ...the LPE takes forever to open and load, like sometimes 5-10 minutes. I click the shortcut and wait, nothing happens for a minute or two, then the thing comes up and says downloading interface or whatever, that takes a few minutes, then the launchpad finally shows on the screen and sticks at "down loading" for another few minutes.

It can't be my PC because I have the game installed on 3 PC's, each with different OS's (7 x64, Vista x64, XP x32). It does the same on all of them.

I'm currently going on 10 minutes this time...anyone else?

Just downloaded LPE and ran, no joy here either and there are no files in the SWGEmu folder there are 3 folders but none contain any files.

It should. If it doesn't do it automatically you can initiate a repair which will redownload those key files.

Hey I just wanted to say that we appreciate everything the devs are doing in this game. We all LOVE this game and we can't help asking a zillion times and bugging you about things, but we understand that it takes time to fix things and that there wouldn't be an EMU without you guys.

Backup your SWGEmu folder, always.
I've got two SWGEmu folders, their backup's, and a backup of all the dll's, exe's and folders. With a special backup with the needed tre files.

Especially screenshots, first and last time I got owned by the LPE that decided to do a FULL REPAIR on its own, I was really pissed.
But it was 2 years ago, you'll never fool me twice.

This is why we need the old SWGEmu setup back until we are sure the LPE won't go crazy again.

I personally liked the old installer at the time, I still have it but it doesn't work anymore, it made me feel like everything was new again the first time I logged on the supra unstable CORE3 when it was still a newborn, damn more than 3 years have passed...

I just starting. Brand new to SWGEMU. Im guessing the hot Fix thats need for the LPE is the error that you get from launching the LPE. Error 404 Something about server not found or not responding. If that isnt the problem then i guess im in big trouble. Loved SWG. Going to be sad if i cant figure out how to play SWGemu. If so plz help haha.

my swgemu.exe file got wiped.. so i'll just have to sit tight and hope it's back up soon! :) not to hot moving and messing with files so gave up on the manual install.. i'll keep checking back :)

I don't know if this matters for anyone else, but I'm using Window 7 Pro and when I tried launching swgemu.exe directly it crashed when the character loaded in. But it works fine if I run it in admin mode.

Also, I logged in 2 characters and for each it stalled while loading into the world, but when I backed up to character selection and tried again they began loading world data right away.

I tried adding a post with my ftp server's address, but the forum won't let me. There is a workaround if LPE deleted or corrupted files on your pc. Just download swgemu.exe again and then run swgemu.exe directly by double-clicking on it. If you get a .dll file error, download that .dll and try again.

I dont even get a black screen I get client errors and it never goes anywhere. Was hopefull when Kyle posted it would be fixed momentarily lastnight that it would going this morening. No fix yet has me thinking this is way more of a sorted issue than originally thought any new updates as to when a fix might be coming? Also wondering if the lpe in anyway take out files not associated with swgemu? I wonder cause I have no idea how the lpe as done what it has allready.

i did a complete reinstall and did the manual setup using this guide http://www.swgemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2553 and have no problems now it took awhile to do and i had to search for some .tre files and the file checker was a pain to find but after 3 hours i was able to play

I did a restore and was able to play fine, except I have no sound in SWGEMU. All other games and windows sounds (videos and mp3s) all work fine, it's just the game.

Issues with LPE remain. I removed and re-installed the Launch Pad. Now I get this error when trying to open LPE:

"The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:bf20 IP:d10e OP:fe 50 90 43 24 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

If I choose "Close," it closes. If I choose "Ignore," it cycles through the same error message six times while changing the second part of the message slightly. Then it leaves a DOS window open and does nothing.

That worked for me, as well.

I also burned the whole swgemu folder to a DVD as a backup. I've had to restore from the dvd a couple times so far.

Edit: After re-installing LPE, *don't* launch LPE! Go inside the C:\swgemu folder, and double click the swgemu.exe file there.

I kept a lpe installer onhand after repairing it seems to work for how long I dont know. I still cant exsplain why it worked and didnt give me the directx9 error I got when trying to run it from the swgemu.exe

How would that work if there are updates to the game. The LPE is needed for updating, isn't it?

Doesn't really matter if LPE already corrupted all of your files due to the update failing. Plus, even after following the manual set-up guide with a fresh install it still crashes.

I get some black command box when I try to log.. Had it happen on two computers using 32 bit Vista not sure what the problem is but it wont go past that black box.... trying an reinstall of galaxies ect

Launch LPE and when it ask you do you want to repair you click "YES", or go to OPTIONS-> FAST REPAIR ( or if that doesn't work COMPLETE REPAIR).

Also make sure you are running it as an administrator.

I was told my problem was the server was down but i hear its back up and people are getting on but i still have the same problem
I click on Launcher and it comes up saying checking for updates but stops and another box comes saying

Check to see if you are running it as an admin, add to exceptions in your anti-virus and if that doesn't work i suggest you reinstall LPE.

All you need to do now is on launchpad after it checks for updates is use the "fullscan" option in the bottom right of the launchpad.
This should fix all of the above errors.

If I hit play (or even launch using SWGEmu.exe) the screen flashes to black a few times and then I get this:
"Direct3D could not be correctly initialised"
It then says that restarting should help. I tried that but the problem remains. It also suggests reinstalling DirectX, but I don't see why that will help.

But if its Vista or Win 7 Its DX10 if its XP then DX9c

i keep getting this message, read about it in another post that it just meant LPE servers were down, still wondering if this is the problem
my error:

from what i've searched here in the forums i'm hoping that this is just the problem that has recently happened still being fixed spoken of in this thread, i did try running from my \SWGEmu file and that worked, just went right into it, no launchpad etc. but the "connecting to galaxy" message i assume is to be about the server spots being full, i just hope that you guys get it fixed. that and that i haven't deleted anything. for me its been 2 days for this message, makes sense for the 23.
