JTL..... /wrists.

Ramsey spent the last 2 weeks doing the structs and got everything working, but the JTL HUD wouldn't come up. So I looked into it and after many hours of debugging and changing stuff, we finally got it.

Teamwork FTW.

Great job, I actually think JtL was the greatest ever, Rouge Squadron might have better flying gameplay in general, but that is nothing compared to upgrading and looting parts for your ship, buying new ships, weapons and all that nice stuff. JtL is also the only airplane\starship game I have ever played that has fun dog-fights.

So I hope it makes it to the emu :)

Would it be possible to have the kashyyyk space as well? ,because that place had some nice visuals hehe.(but kinda useless without the planet I guess)

First off, great work all of you.
I can't even begin to describe how much I'm looking forward to playing this game.
But I do have a quickie question concerning JTL.

I've read that I'll be able to play SWG (in the distant future) by downloading a trial version client from one of the servers' websites and probably modifying a config file to point to the new server. But how will this work for JTL?
As far as I know this was an expansion that had to be bought, will the expansion become available for download as well or am I mistaken about the expansion bit?

Of course I apologize in advance if this question has already been answered.

Ramsey
12-30-2006, 01:22 PM
The trial includes JTL. Our patch will get the trial to the right position, by patching the exe and config files.

Just hope the download server will have a good connection, i mean if thousands of ppls are trying to download.
I dont want a 50kb/s when i got a 10mbit connection :P

I only played JTL on NGE :P
So was the loot the same as in PreCu?
Cuse i thought the loots was just crazy, so many parts in jusr 20min gameplay in space...
But it was fun.

IDRISCKY
01-01-2007, 11:34 PM
As far as I know loot in JTL has not changed. When my guild was REing parts for a firespray, they held a contest, the top people that could bring in the most parts to RE would get the first friespray's. It only took me one day of flying in low level space around tat to get enough parts to become number 2 on the list.

I must have filled 10+ packs or parts that day. Space drop rates have always been very high, But quality drop rates were low.

Legoklas
01-03-2007, 06:38 AM
Yeah, found that out on NGE.
And it was damn confusing at first.
But didnt those loots screw up the whole economy?
Most of the parts had a pritty high value at the junk dealers, if i remember it right.

IDRISCKY
01-03-2007, 06:44 AM
Not really, the economy of SWG has always fluctuated and most people by that time had more than enough money for something like that to affect them. At least that is how I saw things on the server I played on.

mystictigger
01-03-2007, 06:46 AM

To my knowledge pre-cu, "junk dealers" would give you at most 10 credits for certain items, so no. But they did fetch a nice price dumping all of your stuff onto the bazzar.

Did you use the one inside the start port? You could get a lot of credits for those parts, way more then 10 that is for sure.

You can get 1000 credits per tier of ship parts. After a couple hours of killing blacksun ships, it can add up to a lot of money.

yah level 1 parts 1k level 2 2k etc.

thats what I used when I was grinding crafting :O go kill nub ships for a bit and use cash to buy grinding resources :P

PS:
I am gona have a treat for you guys later today when I find my cd :P

I was looking thru unmarked cd's I had around the house trying to find a blank one (rawr, never did find one.) and I found the old prima swg guide (pre cu :P) omg.. I literaly spent around 2 hours just looking at all the stuff I missed in it :P

I gona upload it somewhere later (that shouldnt be a prob right?... it was given out a lonnnnggg time ago by swg to all subscibers... and its out of date.. etc..)

Solo-grinding was still faster than grinding off ships. But with JTL, you could get Piloting XP, ship parts and possibly a Black Sun Ace helmet. The money was just a bonus.

The guides forum (has loads of info on the swgemu)

And my version :P

basicly, Core 1 is out there you can go play on it. It has very very little finished and is quite unstable. There is very very basic combat (like 2-3 moves) and some creatures spawns (seen a couple diff ones on some servers) No skill training anything like that.

The devs are currently working on "core 3" which is a totaly new server core. This is currently only on the closed, dev server. On there they have successfully tested combat, skill training, mounts, vendors, jtl zone (like you see here) and loads of other things.

Ultima was saying within the near future core 3 will be going into a "more public test" which I personaly assume means they will be opening up the official swgemu server for stress testing (I could be totaly wrong but thats what it seems to indicate to me. I doubt they are going to release the core for all the other servers before they do more testing on theirs)

so basicly keep a watch on the forums/homepage and, if you wish, Go try some of the servers that are up. Even with virtualy no features on them its a hell of a ride runing around remembering various area's of the game...

can anyone tell me what the in game Measurements are for the X-wing in JTL? I've been doing some research and measuring some of the larger ships in JTL using waypoints and have come to a rather bizzare outcome, it appears that both the Nebulon B frigate as well as the Imperial Star destroyer are 60% larger than their commonly stated sizes, the Nebulon B frigate reaches almost 500 meters (cannonically 300), while the Imperial Star Destroyer stretches almost 2600 meters (1600 meters cannonically) if the X-wing's length in space (not the ground, though that might account for some things) is 20 meters than we can shrink ALL space units aproximately 40% and get their proper cannon size which would also allow for more room in Space in general, Space Stations, Asteroids etc would not have to be adjusted, though the debris fields prolly should be. the X-wing's "Proper" length is 12.5 meters and I compared pictures of on screen X-wings and JTL X-Wings looking at the R2 units for differences, and I see that, I would estimate the R2 unit looks around 60% Larger in the Movie X-wing than the JTL X-Wing.

I think he said that the ships in SWG are larger than they are in canon literature, and that we should do something about it. I think.

i sort of understand what he's saying but he got way into it. I think he meant if you scale down the larger ships and the fighters you can fit more on the in-game map

so the good thing is I totally understand what you wrote here and I agree.
but I wouldn't try and ask for more than what we're getting.
space is actually the more important part of this game to me.

01-10-2007, 11:03 PM
actually, making the ships and stuff smaller would in turn make space larger, so it would seem more realistic... I hated going 5km(where I usually ended up when hypering in and stuff) and all the stars start traveling sideways on the screen and it saying you've reached the end of your sublight engine's limitations...

Buttermilkbiscuits
01-10-2007, 11:35 PM
But you were traveling at like 500,000 km/h, so 5,000 km was nothing.

QuantumFlux

The problem with scaling everything down is that as it might be accurate, you would lose part of the ship detail. If everything is almost exactly 60% off then they are scaled to proportions equal to themselves. They may be technically larger than they are supposed to be... but its like if you doubled the size of earth and everything on it... no one would notice.

However, in computer graphics land, if you double the size of something you can get twice the resolution out of it and make it look better. That is probably what they did to get the detail in.

Azron_Stoma
01-12-2007, 05:43 AM
that may be true, well technically it is very true, but considering the level of detail on ships in general is significantly less than the level of detail than say, on an R2 unit or such things, close up to a station or other vehicle, or even just looking out the ****pit of a YT-1300 to the side and you will see that the Detail isnt designed for close inspection. so reducing it by 40% won't make too much of a difference, if anything it might make the detail (which gets blurry on close inspection) a bit sharper. granted this may be best for individual servers to decide on, I just figured It might be a good idea to give you guys a heads up first.

I found all this out when I was measuring stuff to check if in game Capital ships ranging from Nebulon B to Victory Class Star Destroyers actually WERE phsyically plausable as far as moving around in the space zones. and so far I am getting some very promising results.

only real problem i ever had with jtl was the millenium falcum scale an speed i werent to bothered about, bu the interior of the yt1300 was less than satisfactory the minin ship had the best interior by far shame i never figured how to get it to work

Nice that you got that sorted :) Good going!

Personally I think the JTL stuff is just extras that many arent too bothered about and the pre-CU non-JTL stuff is the main stuff that people are after.
