1) Total volunteer Developers, we are lucky people are actually attempting this. While retail MMOs get paid to make their games, this one does not and frankly it suprises me that the Emu has gotten this far.
2) Eve is a game made by a company, which produces revenue and pays people to develop it, comparing the two is laughable at best, well good luck in Eve! Rest us will hang out and watch this marvel of a project evolve.
3) I would hope none of the staff takes this post to heart.

Personally I'm excited about the SWGemu thus far. Sure, at first it was frustrating when the server was extremely laggy, and waiting on the OR has been a bear at times, but I just went off and did other stuff then came back and the server is now lag free and the OR is just around the corner.

If you don't have patience to wait for them to do everything right, then the odds are you aren't that excited about SWGemu and you don't have faith in the developers, and if that ever comes across your mind then the odds are you shouldn't play SWGemu anyways.

Not to try to run any of the player base off, but that's just how I view it.

i stopped playing for a few months due to my computer being wrecked but as soon as i got it up and running the first thing i clicked was the launchpad to play. my friend told me about the wipe and i couldnt believe it at first so i checked this thread. hopefully the OR comes out as soon as you say it is. and hopefully the OR dramatically speeds up the event of 1.0 coming out.

Meditate does not heal bf. I remember because that and broken armor was the only cause for downtime on my tkm/doc back in live pre-cu.

....but I also play about 6 other games. Off and on that is. Dont get wrapped around the axle waiting on dates, updates, and so on. This is supposed to be for fun all. ;)

The goal is still early September so maybe next weekend. The actual content in the OR is more important than a date, but we are darn close to a TC: Nova wipe :)

I have. :p HOWEVER, with my experience of creating in the Technical World (experience gained through XvTED and XWAED), this type of Building truly takes time, particularly to polish all that you have created (to ensure a quality product; Creating is one thing, but Perfecting is another). Granted STAFF=GOD, but not even a GOD can create the world in a matter of moments; days, maybe, or weeks if Real Life and personal matters interfere too much.

Very wise approaching. Though the OR you put to test a couple weeks was pretty good add as much content as it is possible before Nova wipe is very clever.

My hopes of better resource spawns are/were intended for once the O.R. stabilizes and the initial "wipes" are over. After playing on Nova for close to a year, I noticed that the quallty of resource were far lower than what was available on live. I, for one have never really enjoyed PvP, and always found the hunt for the servers best resources to craft the best part of SWG. After all SWG still has the best crafting system in any MMO.

When the "wipes" are over we'll be very close to version 1.0 release which mean the resources spawn will be like in pre-CU, somtimes good and sometimes bad. I wouldn't be too worried about that, unless you want sweet resources all the time ;)

Diktator is right, expect wipes throughout the TC: Nova until v1.00 is on SunCrusher. Of course we won't wipe it just because we are evil, but because it serves the developers' work.

The days the OR was put to test, a couple weeks ago, artisan was available for testing, in fact is what I did (along with plant some factories and harvesters). You can be sure you will be able to test all crafting professions. I've got the feeling OR is quite polished about these professions, though I only tested artisan since I couldn't get to higher levels because of the short time OR was tested and the daily wipes. As soon as OR will be 24/7 online we will have the chance to test thoroughly crafters and any other profession.

Better question... Can you guesstimate how long after the OR goes live that it'll be up like Nova is now, if at all?

If you have read anything in these threads you would know the answers to your questions.

1. It will be wiped as often as deemed necessary to facilitate the Dev's work

2. Trying to get a guesstimate is pointless as you will never get one. Unless I am wrong, OR is not meant to be like Nova. It is the code that needs tested extensively that will get us to ver 1.0 and Suncrusher.

If all you are looking for is to "play", then you best look elsewhere until SC goes live. Nova was here to placate us while the OR code was being worked on in the background, but now that era is soon to be over and the server will be back to a true testing phase.

Won't call you selfish, but if you are not interested in testing and all you want to do is "play", well not much esle to tell ya.

I am actually looking forward to the progression of player buildings. I understand that the wipes are necessary and for me, to make certain that everything is going to, in the end bring back a game which was the best sandbox out there during it's heyday. I started the Test Center later, and despite a few of the glitches with regards to spawn rates, scaling of the size of spawns, lack of a working garage, it was all very very close to how the game was pre-cu. Kudos to the developing team and their continuing hard work!

1. It will be wiped as often as deemed necessary to facilitate the Dev's work

2. Trying to get a guesstimate is pointless as you will never get one. Unless I am wrong, OR is not meant to be like Nova. It is the code that needs tested extensively that will get us to ver 1.0 and Suncrusher.

If all you are looking for is to "play", then you best look elsewhere until SC goes live. Nova was here to placate us while the OR code was being worked on in the background, but now that era is soon to be over and the server will be back to a true testing phase.

Won't call you selfish, but if you are not interested in testing and all you want to do is "play", well not much esle to tell ya.

Lay off each other, folks. There's a lot of misunderstanding going on here, so let's try to keep from making jabs at each other.

Participating in focus testing is appreciated, but in most cases just trying to fiddle with skills, crafting and combat will help as well. It's perfectly fine to "play" in the OR so long as you remember that wipes will happen often and there won't be any "gameplay considerations"; that means blue frogs will be present as long as they need be, even if getting things for free isn't "fun". It also means that fixing bugs will be prioritized, and what you consider a major game-breaking bug in a combat skill may not be as important as another issue on the list.

So if you haven't already done so, re-register on Mantis and get ready to submit those bug reports!

This post makes no sense since I just reinstalled the game and logged in and it was still the same old test center. Nothing has been wiped yet !!!

It would be nice if we could wipe the old Core3 now. After looking at it today, there's enough done and enough to do with the OR code, imo, that having the new OR'd stuff up would be best so we can test it all continuously. I would very much dislike to sit down for a testing session on the OR and then get DC'd in the middle of my note taking and/or lengthy bug test. I've decided to postpone my tests for that reason until the server is running it full time. 2c.

We are doing our best at getting the OR code full time on TC: Nova. We want to get all of you testing it as soon as possible :)

Like you said, it is illegal. The only reason they are able to make the EMU, is because its using the code that we already paid for, with our original disks. if the staff tried to make money from an SOE product, there would be much shaking of fists.

And as SOE has made clear, that it has NO intentions of rolling back the game to PreCu, then the EMU project, technically, isnt taking any money away from SOE. Nice loophole

But, you can certainly donate that money. If you can pay 15 bucks a month, great, much appreciated.

due to the fact that barely anyone is coming on during OR test times, they will be pushing OR any day now with or without alot of things.

I don't know where you heard that. There's no date or schedule for the OR release and wipe, though it may be put up for a public test session over the weekend.

I don't see anywhere in this thread where a staff member involved in QA or development stated a schedule or date for the OR release. Since we don't actually have a date for release, it would be rather difficult to post one.

It hasn't been done yet as we are trying to put more things into the OR so everybody has something to test, ie Entertainers and some other stuff.

The goal is still early September so maybe next weekend. The actual content in the OR is more important than a date, but we are darn close to a TC: Nova wipe :)
